There are several types of oil depending on the nature and level of the refining. The different qualities of oils in order of performance are mineral, semi-synthetic and synthetic. We also offer biodegradable oils that meet certain recommendations where an oil that degrades in the natural environment is required. Mineral oils are fairly basic because they undergo very little processing. Synthetic oils, however, have a higher viscosity index which gives them better thermal stability. It should also be noted that a synthetic oil offers better protection for engine parts such as the turbocharger and enables longer intervals between oil changes. Semi-synthetic oils are a mineral/synthetic mixture, which gives them intermediate performance characteristics.
